1. Introduction

GAGE is a skill-based sports prediction game where users make YES/NO predictions on player statistics and compete in group competitions. GAGE is not a sportsbook or gambling platform — no money changes hands. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

2. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

• Your phone number (if you sign in with a one-time code sent by text) or your email address (if you sign in with a link sent by email). GAGE does not use passwords.
• Your username, and optionally your real name and a profile photo
• Your predictions, contest history and results, friend connections, and game invites
• Feedback you send us from the app, along with your app version and operating system version

Other players can see your username, name, and profile photo, and can search for you by username.

Android Launch Notices

On gagesports.com, we collect an email address only when you ask to be notified when GAGE launches on Android. We use it only to send that notice. We do not sell or share it, and we delete it on request: email privacy@gagesports.com.

Information Collected Automatically

• Device type/model, operating system, app version, IP address, and mobile carrier
• Identifiers: a device ID, a push notification token, and Firebase installation IDs
• Analytics data: sessions, features used, and screens viewed, plus recordings of some app sessions with all text and images masked (see section 5)
• Crash reports and error reports
• Approximate location (city, region, country) worked out from your IP address. We do NOT collect precise GPS location.
• If you install GAGE from an invite link, we check the install referrer (Android) or your clipboard (on first launch) for that invite link. We keep only the invite link.

Information We Do NOT Collect

• Social Security numbers or government IDs
• Financial information, bank accounts, or credit cards
• Biometric data or health data
• Contact lists or phone contacts
• Data from children under 13

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

1. Operate and maintain the GAGE platform
2. Facilitate competitions and score predictions
3. Connect you with friends and other competitors
4. Communicate with you about your account and the platform
5. Improve app performance and user experience
6. Ensure fair play and prevent cheating
7. Comply with legal obligations

We do NOT sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for behavioral advertising.

4. Information Sharing

We only share your information with:

• Service providers (listed in section 5) that process data on our behalf and are bound by contract to protect your data
• Legal authorities when required by law or to protect our rights
• Business transfer parties in the event of a merger or acquisition (with advance notice to users)
• Third parties only with your explicit consent

5. Third-Party Services

Firebase (Google): We use Firebase Authentication for sign-in (it sends the one-time text code or the email sign-in link), Cloud Firestore and Cloud Storage to store your account, profile, and photo, and Firebase App Check to confirm requests come from the real app.

Analytics (PostHog): We use PostHog to understand how people use the app. It collects usage events, device information, your user ID and username, and your IP address, from which it works out your approximate location. PostHog also records a sample of app sessions so we can see where the app is confusing. In those recordings, all text and images are masked. Analytics data is retained for up to 2 years. You may opt out by contacting privacy@gagesports.com.

Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics): When the app crashes or hits an error, Crashlytics collects a report with your user ID, device model, operating system, and app version.

Server error reports (Sentry): Our servers send error reports to Sentry. We set it not to send personal information.

Nearby city (ipwho.is): To sort games near you, the app sends your IP address to ipwho.is, which returns an approximate city. That city is used on your device only.

Hosting: Our game servers run on Railway.

Push Notifications: We use Firebase Cloud Messaging for push notifications, which can be disabled in your device settings.

We do not use advertising SDKs, ad networks, or behavioral advertising platforms.

6. Data Retention

Account and profile	Deleted on request: right away in the app, or within 30 days of an emailed request
Finished contest records	Kept for as long as the contest records exist, with your name replaced by "Deleted user" and your photo removed. They keep only an internal account ID.
Feedback you sent from the app	Kept after account deletion, with an internal account ID. Email us to have it removed.
Analytics data	Up to 2 years
Crash reports	Kept by Firebase Crashlytics for its retention period
Usage logs	90 days
Backups	Up to 30 additional days

You may request account deletion at any time in-app or by emailing privacy@gagesports.com.

7. Data Security

• TLS/SSL encryption for all data in transit
• No passwords to steal: sign-in uses one-time text codes and email sign-in links
• Need-to-know access controls for internal staff
• Secure cloud hosting infrastructure
• Periodic security assessments

No system is 100% secure. We take reasonable measures to protect your data but cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Privacy Rights

All users have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Correct inaccurate information
• Delete your account and data
• Export your data in a portable format
• Opt out of analytics tracking
• Withdraw consent at any time

We respond to all requests within 30 days (45 days for complex requests).

9. Children's Privacy

GAGE is intended for users aged 13 and older. Users between 13-17 should have parental consent. We comply with COPPA and will delete any data collected from users under 13 upon discovery.

10. International Transfers

Data is processed in the United States. For users outside the US, we use Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) where required to ensure adequate data protection.

11. State-Specific Rights

California (CCPA/CPRA): You have the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We have not sold personal information in the preceding 12 months.

Virginia (VCDPA): You have the right to access, correct, delete, and obtain a portable copy of your data, and to opt out of targeted advertising, sale, or profiling.

Colorado (CPA): Similar rights to Virginia residents apply.

Nevada: You may opt out of the sale of personal information on request. Currently, no sales occur.

12. Do Not Track

DNT signals are not currently honored due to a lack of accepted standards. You may opt out of analytics by emailing privacy@gagesports.com.

13. Policy Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notice. Continued use of GAGE after changes constitutes acceptance.
